The AWIS – San Diego Scholarship Program strives to encourage and reward aspiring women scientists pursuing their degrees in San Diego colleges and universities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

The scholarships, now in their 14th year, are awarded annually and have
supported community college, undergraduate, and graduate women in San
Diego County pursuing their degrees, conducting research projects, or assisting
with additional educational expenses, with an emphasis on STEM fields where
women are underrepresented. The fields of study of past scholarship recipients
have included: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering,
Mathematics and Experimental Psychology. Each recipient receives a $1000
Eligibility: Female students actively engaged in a degree program in the 2012-2013 academic year may apply. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Applicants must be affiliated with an institute of higher learning in San Diego County. The award can be used for educational expenses including tuition, books, housing, or research.
Applicants will receive an e-mail confirming receipt of a completed application
approximately 2-3 weeks following the application deadline. Scholarship
recipients will be notified by the end of April 2013.
2013 Scholarship receipts will be honored at the AWIS Women in Science and Technology (WIST) conference (May 18, 2013 at the UCSD Faculty Club).
