An Assistant Statistician is sought to help analyze neurophysiological recordings in humans. Some recordings are from healthy subjects using magnetoencephalography (MEG), electroencephalography (EEG), and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Other recordings use multi-microelectrode arrays in patients with epilepsy to sample the activity of individual cells or transmembrane currents in different cortical layers. Areas of primary interest are sleep rhythms, memory consolidation, and language, but a broad range of cognitive, sensory and motor phenomena are explored. The position is at UC San Diego, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of international researchers. The successful applicant will be highly fluent in MatLab; a degree in statistics is not essential but some statistical knowledge from classes and experience is.
