This is a reminder that the application deadline for the 2014 Cal-CAB Summer BioEnergy Research Program, supported by the Consortium for Algal Biofuel Commercialization (CAB-Comm), is this Friday, May 3.
Cal-CAB’s Summer BioEnergy Research Program is a paid, five-week, full-time research experience for up to ten interns in one of the Consortium for Algal Biofuels Commercialization (CAB-Comm) labs. We also offer a flexible ten-week, part-time internship to accommodate busy schedules. The program will start between June 30 (10 week) and August 1 (5 week), and will end September 5.
Why You Should Apply
The objectives of the program are to provide students with the skills to become research scholars, to stimulate students’ serious consideration of graduate study, and to increase learning and networking opportunities for students committed to pursuing a professional or academic research career in bioenergy.
Interns will work with both a faculty member and a lab mentor to craft a research project and will participate in at least one science field trip to the UC San Diego Biology Field Station or a local algae biotechnology company. The program will culminate with a research symposium where each student is required to present a short talk on their summer project in front of the faculty, lab mentors, and other student interns. Students participating in the Cal-CAB Summer BioEnergy Research Program will receive a small stipend for the duration of the program.
How to Apply
Applications are open to current UC undergraduate students with the right to work in the US, as per federal grant rules. To apply, fill out an application form and email your CV and transcript to me at email@example.com by May 30. Note: internships will not be available to applicants who already received a paid Cal-CAB summer internship via EDGE or other Cal-CAB funding.
