The UC Natural Reserve system is pleased to announce a new instructional program that will immerse students from across the University in the spectacular outdoor landscapes of reserves.
The NRS Field Quarter Program begins Fall 2015 with California Ecology and Conservation. This field course is designed to give undergraduates hands-on experience conducting environmental research. The class will visit up to six reserves over a period of seven weeks. Students will learn to perform a wide variety of field research techniques such as vegetation mapping and behavioral sampling, and apply these skills to several independent research projects. They will perform statistical analyses of their data, and present the results in the form of oral presentations and scientific papers.
California Ecology and Conservation is open to undergraduates throughout the UC system. Course applications for Fall 2015 will be accepted between December 1, 2014 and February 2, 2015. Instruction will begin September 24, 2015.
