Hands-on Science Lab, EDS 132: Winter 2015

Have you ever wanted to change the way that science is taught? Take EDS 132 this Winter to gain high school science teaching experience in a creative atmosphere here on campus.

What you’ll do:
• Connect directly with the faculty and staff of a UCSD research lab
• Design hands-on science activities geared towards high school students
• Meet other undergrads interested in science education
• Explore current trends in learning design and research

This course provides excellent introductory science teaching experience for undergraduates in education studies, liberal arts, engineering, and the sciences. It also provides students with experience reading peer-reviewed science articles, and engaging in discussion with the faculty and staff of a UCSD science lab.

*High school students visit beginning in the second week of the course.

Time: Tuesdays from 3:30pm-6:30pm
Location: Pepper Canyon Hall Room 302

The Hands On Science Lab is a course offered by the UC San Diego Science Project, part of a statewide network of K-12 science teacher education. It is made possible from NSF CAREER funding for the Devaraj Lab at UCSD as part of the CREATE STEM Success Initiative.
