The University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada is excited to announce that the Master of Sustainable Forest Management program has been approved as a candidate for accreditation by the Society of American Foresters (SAF).
The Master of Sustainable Forest Management (MSFM) is a one year degree for graduates from science-based Bachelors programs and provides advanced study in natural resource stewardship. If you have a non-science undergraduate degree and a background in conservation or resource management you are invited to apply. UBC Faculty of Forestry graduates work in conservation and natural resources management for governments, industry, consultants and environmental organizations, around the world.
The US Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) recognizes the SAF as the specialized accrediting body for forestry and natural resources education in the United States and Canada. The SAF Committee on Accreditation accepted the Candidacy report for the MSFM program in December 2014 and has granted initial candidacy, under the forestry standard. Candidacy indicates that the MSFM program has achieved initial recognition and is progressing toward accreditation. It is UBC’s goal to apply for full accreditation within the next 2 years.”
The deadline for applications for the program is February 27, 2015.
