Applications for the Spring 2016 UC Natural Reserve System California Ecology and Conservation program are now open and we need your help to spread the word!
This field studies program, open to undergraduate students at all nine general UC campuses, offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience conducting ecological research while immersed in the spectacular outdoor landscapes of the UC Natural Reserve System.
Students will spend the entire 7-week instructional period immersed in experiential learning at UC reserves across the state. They will learn a wide variety of field research methods, such as vegetation mapping and behavioral sampling, and apply these skills to independent research projects. The students will learn how to conduct scientific research from start to finish, including developing research questions, collecting data in the field, performing statistical analyses, and presenting the results in both oral presentations and scientific papers.
The application deadline for Spring 2016 is October 30, 2015. Instruction will begin March 28, 2016.
Students meet eligibility requirements if they have successfully completed an introductory ecology/biology course and have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
