Intern Position Available in Marine Turtle Genomics

shutterstock_171391160

We have an opening for an intern to assist with marine turtle genomics projects at the Southwest Fisheries Science Center (La Jolla, CA). This position is primarily lab based (DNA/RNA extractions, quality control, general laboratory assistance) with some computer work and local field opportunities. Molecular laboratory experience is highly preferred
(particularly in molecular genetics or physiology).
This position would merit independent study credit for an enrolled undergraduate after one quarter of volunteering. There is also potential for longer-term honors projects with longer-term time commitment, and mentors would support/assist with applying for undergraduate research grant opportunities for student stipend support if applicable. Specific hours are flexible, but must be a minimum of 4 hr time blocks and average of 20 per week (necessary for training and completion of lab protocols).

Interested applicants please contact Lisa.komoroske@noaa.gov with a short statement of experience and interests, and a CV with at least two references listed.
